A PHOTOGRAPHER on the Rutherglen Reformer newspaper has died, aged 64.

Brian Logue is reported to have lost his battle against prostate cancer during the early of Boxing Day.

Says a memo sent to staff across the Media Scotland group of newspapers, which includes the Rutherglen Reformer and the Daily Record, Logue first joined the Rutherglen Reformer during the 1970s, when he also worked for the Airdrie and Coatbridge Advertiser.

He went on to work for the Daily Mail and Evening Times before returning to the Reformer six years ago.

Reformer editor, Kenny Smith, is quoted, as saying: “Brian was the public face of the Rutherglen Reformer, attending so many events throughout the year to take pictures at schools, churches, sports events, theatre rehearsals, and so many other occasions.

“When my colleague Douglas Dickie and I interviewed Brian ahead of his return to the Reformer, we were impressed by his passion for not only our paper, but the whole community. Brian wanted the best for Rutherglen and Cambuslang at all times.

“Brian was always someone you could rely upon to give you a sound, balanced opinion, and was always full of ideas for features and stories we could do in the paper. He was far more than our photographer.

“His level of commitment was second to none – whether a job was at 7am or 10pm, he would do it without a quibble, always wanting to do what was best for the paper.

“As well as being committed to his work, Brian was also a devoted family man. He was so proud of each of his three children, and his grandchildren, on whom he doted.

“I know that Brian was proud to work for the Reformer, and we were proud to not only call him a colleague, but a friend.

“Our thoughts are with his beloved wife Annette, son Christopher, and daughters Annette and Julie, and their families, at this time.”

The story has been reported in the Daily Record, and also the Evening Times newspaper.
